Although the game isn't supposed to release until later this evening, Destiny 2 is apparently ready for action, thanks to Bungie.

The developer has announced that the servers have gone live ahead of schedule, and those of you that have gotten an early copy of the game can now jump into its world. Granted, this only applies for physical copies of Destiny 2, as digital copies are still locked out until 9 PM EDT this evening. But if you've gotten your hands on a physical copy, go nuts.

With the launch of these servers, a new message for the Bungie community has been released, with Bungie community manager David "Deej" Dague presenting a special brief message, welcoming the newcomers in their fight against the Red Legion.

Deej explained, "There's an enormous amount of excitement in our studio right now to launch Destiny 2. This brand new adventure will be our next step together as an amazing community that began back in 2014.

"In Destiny 2, you'll battle a new enemy on new worlds. You'll earn new ways to customize your character as you use new clamn features to team up with your friends.

"We hope you'll join us for the next step in our journey."

That's pretty much it, but it's expected to drum up a great deal of excitement for the forthcoming sequel, which is just hours away. You can watch the video above.

Destiny 2 releases tomorrow for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, and October 24th for PC.
