Dragon Ball Z video games are nothing new, but the recently-announced Dragon Ball FighterZ seems to have really ignited fans’ passions. Made by the same Arc System Works team as the Guilty Gear and BlazBlue series, Dragon Ball FighterZ boasts a gorgeous cell-shaded art style, amazing over-the-top action, and a boatload of fan service. Speaking of which, we now know the game’s roster will include two essential fan-favorite characters.

Japanese gaming magazine V-Jump has revealed both Piccolo and Krillin will be in Dragon Ball FighterZ. They join Trunks, who was recently announced at the EVO 2017 Championships.

The latest addition aren’t exactly a shock, as Piccolo and Krillin have been an core part of Dragon Ball Z pretty much right from the beginning, but it’s good to have the confirmation. According to online polls, Piccolo was the most desired unannounced FighterZ character, with Krillin trailing not far behind. Can’t go wrong with the classics!

Sadly, we don’t have any video footage of Piccolo and Krillin in action yet, but you can check out a scan from V-Jump, below:

V-Jump also provided a few more Dragon Ball FighterZ gameplay details. Apparently, if you hold down an attack button, you can power up your character’s super move โ€“ for instance, Krillin’s signature Destructo Disc will be unblockable if you power it up enough. Presumably, there will be some cost for doing this, so as not to completely unbalance gameplay. FighterZ‘ online lobby will also be similar to past Arc System Works fighters, allowing you to control and socialize with cute little characters in between matches.

Dragon Ball FighterZ will be holding a closed beta prior to launch, with sign-ups opening on July 26. The final version of the game throws down on the Xbox One and PS4 sometime in early 2018.
