Old habits are hard to break, ya know? Just because Harley has turned a new leaf in Injustice 2, joining Batman in his mission to restore the Justice League to its rightful place, doesn’t mean that she’s completely over Joker. Sure he subjected her to years of violent intimidation and tried to kill her once or twice but, to be honest, she’s in to the kind of thing, and she’s still having dreams about the man even after he’s passed. If you don’t believe us, listen to this (kind of gross) pre-fight dialog documented by MKIceAndFire:

“Dinah said you woke up screaming for Joker,” Batman says as he prepares to spar. “Yeah,” Harley responds,”that dream was really not safe for work.” Batman looks back with an expression that we can only assume is a mixture of disgust and excitement and asks, “Should I be concerned?”
Well, that’s Harley Quinn for you. For those of you who have played through the Injustice 2 campaign, you know that no matter how dark things get, no matter whose life is on the line, no matter how broken or damaged she becomes, she’s always ready to fire back with a snarky one-liner or gross joke. Of course, there was one major exception.
Warning: Mild Injustice 2 Spoilers ahead.
We saw Harley sing a very different tune early in the Injustice 2 single-player campaign when Joker makes a surprise appearance. He doesn’t return in the flesh, but as a king of nightmare form conjured by Scarecrow and his fear toxin. Harley is hit with an overwhelming dose of the stuff, and it leads to an intense hallucination where she sees Joker approach her for the first time since he died.
Their reunion wasn’t dreamy at all — it was more like a nightmare, and it ends in the two facing off for one final supernatural showdown. You can see the full scene where Joker returns right here.
