A new League of Legends champion is already on the horizon after Kayn and Urgot were just released, a powerful being from Frejlord named Ornn. The champion’s name is the most recent reveal after he was teased last month during a Champion Roadmap update, but with the newest announcement about the icy champ, there’s quite a bit more to be deciphered.

While he might be a frigid champ because of the fact that he calls Frejlord home, his lore so far indicates that he might very well be the complete opposite of that. With talks of fire all throughout his teasers, there are quite a few questions about why a fiery champ would call such a cold setting home.
Aside from being a tanky Vanguard from Frejlord, there are a few things that we know about Ornn as well as some details that help flesh out the upcoming champion.
Ornn Is Coming Pretty Soon
Whatever Ornn is planning on bringing from Frejlord to Summoner’sย Rift, he’s going to be headed that way pretty soon. Urgot and Kayn’s releases were indeed pretty recent, but the order that they were released in means that Ornn’sย reveal is coming up next.
Back when the upcoming champion updates and releases were being discussed, Rioters commented that there wouldn’t be back-to-back new champions or Visual and Gameplayย Updates. Instead, they would be spaced out by alternating between the two reveals.
Since Kaynย came out just before Urgot, Ornnย would be the next in line for a release as a new champ. The exact patch he’ll come out is still unknown, but we can bet he’s coming soon.
Ornn’s Poem Reveals His Fiery Profession
With the recent teaser that was just released for Ornn, the champion received a haunting song and a poem to help tell his tale. The full text of the poem can be seen below, and it helps explain why there’s been so much talk of fire for a champion from Frejlord:
Dark smoke exhales, from the mountain half
And wind blows through hollow dells
Skies clear as day, shall soon turn gray
And you’ll know, you’re nearing Ornn
ย
Barring your path is a chasm wide
Howls rise from fathomless pits
But close stands a bridge, frozen by time
And across, you’ll soon find Ornn
ย
River of fire, that scorches the earth
Belies his kingdom of stone
And steel sings its tone, as a god stands alone
The shaping hand, we know as Ornn
ย
Sparks leap and fly from the star-fallen ore
Forging his works, divine
Bellows erupt, with unbridled force
No longer lost – The Mountainsmith, Ornn
When Ornnย was first teased without a name and simply as a Vanguard from Frejlord, he was said to be a champion skilled in creating things, someone who could build more than character, as Reav3 said in his Champion Roadmap. From the text in his poem, Ornn’sย blacksmithingย abilities are evident, tossing out sparks and utilizingย ore in his creations.
He Has Strong Ties To Frejlord History
Outside of the main scroll that composed most of Ornn’sย teaser, the other scrolls that were seen underneath the poem also contained details about the upcoming champion. They can’t be read in full since they’re covered up, but the fact that they’re present with certain words easily readable means that they’re important as well.
The scroll to the left of the main poem begins by talking about what appears to be the Three Sisters, and those that are familiar with Frejlordian lore will know that the words refer to Lissandra and her siblings. It’s one of the oldest tales from Frejlord, but at the end of the scroll that’s poking out at the bottom of the main one, we can see that it ends in talk about Ornn.
It’s unclear how he’ll be connected to the Three Sisters, whether he’s an ally, a rival, or perhaps even a brother of the Three, but he’s definitely got ties to them. Braum is another champion that seems to be connected to Ornnย through his powerful shield, a tool that’s supposedly beenย imbued with ice magic by Ornn.
Ornn Appears To Be A Powerful God
While some of the recent champions like Urgotย and Kayn attempt to rule over others and lead a group of followers, others exist on a completely different level, like the massive Aurelionย Sol. Their sizes and powers are generally leveled out when fighting on the Rift, but their lore still puts them high above others.
Ornnย appears to be in good company with a lofty champion status like others according to what’s teased in his poem.
“And steel sings its tone, as a god stands alone,” is the most obvious example of this in the poem, a line that at least portrays Ornnย as a god, even if he isn’t technically one.ย
A discussion also began pretty quickly on the officialย Leagueย boards where the god-like theory was all but confirmed by a poster with inside knowledge on the lore, the full discussion seen here.ย
