Metroid: Samus Returns is just over a few weeks away from release, and we’re going nuts waiting for our chance to jump back into the world of Samus Aran. But keep in mind that it’s not quite a new game, but rather an inspired return to the Game Boy classic Metroid II: Return of Samus.

Granted, it is new, and the visuals definitely look a lot sharper than the Game Boy version, but it’s inspired by Return of Samus, so you might see the connection between the two games. And it’s about to get a whole lot closer.
GameXplain recently posted an interesting tidbit regarding the Collector’s Edition of the game, which will be released on the same day. Along with all the other goodies that you get in the package, the game also includes reversible cover art. And what’s on the other side of the cover art? Why, what else, but original cover art for Metroid II: Return of Samus!
The box art looks just like its 1991 counterpart, complete with all of the box details, the original cover art that looks pretty close to the Samus Returns cover art (but without the fancy colors) and even the “Official Game Boy Game Pak” stamping from the good ol’ days. You can check out the two below.
The collector’s edition, which goes for $50, comes with plenty of goodies, including a CD with 25 songs from the series. So if you’re a fan of the Metroid franchise, it goes without saying that you should get that, along with the collectible Amiibo figures, which give you access to the exclusive art gallery and the challenging Fusion mode right off the bat.
