New Free Steam Game Brings PC Fans Back to the N64

A new free Steam game brings PC gamers back to the Nintendo 64. The free PC game is not an old N64 game, but a brand new release clearly inspired by this era of gaming. Many things defined this era of gaming, the mid-1990s to the early 2000s, but one genre is synonymous with it, especially with the early Nintendo console: 3D collectathon platformers. The genre isn’t exclusive to the N64, but thanks to the likes of Super Mario 64, Banjo-Kazooie, and more, when you think of 3D collectathon platformers, you think of the nostalgic console that introduced 3D gaming to Nintendo fans.

The new free Steam game, transporting gamers back to a different, nostalgic era of gaming, is Dillo’s Dilemma from developer MoonSpice Games. And according to Steam User reviews, the new free PC game is pretty good. To this end, and at the moment of publishing, it has a 100% approval rating across all reviews.

About the Game:

In Dillo’s Dilemma, you play as Dillo, an “ingenious armadillo” who can transform into essentially a pinball. And this is what makes Dillo’s Dilemma unique, as it blends the genre with a pinball-esque gameplay loop. To this end, the free Steam game is both great for fans of 3D collectathons and fans of pinball.

It is unclear how long the game is, as there is insufficient data on the topic; however, most Steam user reviews have a couple of hours sunk into the PC game, suggesting it is not very long. However, a couple of reviews have 10 or more hours, so there is certainly either a decent amount of content or a good amount of replayability.

“I really enjoyed this game. The physics are fun, and bouncing off of the blinko parts is great,” reads one of these user reviews. “I really love how the game has a good amount of content for a free game. It’s a really cool project.”

Steam Deck Support

While the PC game’s Steam listing notes that Steam Deck compatibility is “Unknown,” the aforementioned Steam User reviews note the game “runs well” on the Steam Deck; however, some adjustments are required from the user. Whether full Steam Deck compatibility will be added in the future, we currently do not know. For many games, including some of 2025’s biggest Steam games, it is common for Steam Deck support to come not at launch, but after launch.

All of that said, and as always, feel free to leave a comment letting us know what you think. Alternatively, be sure to check out the ComicBook Forum for more gaming discussions.
