PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds is a huge success, generating over $100 million in its first three months, but it's still very much a work-in-progress, and the game's creators have promised some pretty big changes.

Recently the game's developers announced on Twitter the multiplayer battle royale will soon be getting a first-person only mode.

PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds lets players choose between a third-person and first-person perspective, but those who choose third-person have a natural advantage. Sneakily taking out opponents is a big part of Battlegrounds, so actually being able to see what's going on around your character is a big deal. First-person only servers will put everybody on the same level playing field.

Meanwhile, Battlegrounds developer Bluehole is promising to greatly expand character customization in a future update, with tattoos and new clothing options being a particular focus:

"We plan to give our users much more control over character appearance by implementing Anticto's Mutable character customization system. Soon, you will be able to design your character to a tee."

For those who still unsure what PlayerUnkown's Battlegrounds is about, the game is a large-scale multiplayer deathmatch inspired by movies like The Hunger Games and Battle Royale. 100 players are dropped onto an island without any weapons or equipment and have to gather resources and eliminate opponents in order to become the last person standing. If you think that sounds pretty rad, well, you're not alone.

PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds is still in Early Access, and recently had its final release slightly delayed. That said, you can still expect the full game before the end of this year.
