Will Pokemon Go Have More Events In August?

With July and the Pokemon Go Fest event now behind us, August looks to be a bit slower of a month when it comes to Pokemon Go. The Legendary Pokemon are still generating quite a bit of buzz in the mobile game as players do their best to pick up a Moltres and eventually battle for a Zapdos, but with the recent festival and one-year anniversary are likely to be two of the game’s bigger milestones for the year.

That doesn’t mean that August is devoid of event opportunities, though. We already know of a huge Pikachu-centered event that’s on the way, but there are other smaller opportunities that could bring about some minor bonuses for players.

A Back-To-School Bash

The month of August might not be the best month for students who mourn the end of their short summer break, but that doesn’t mean that the month has to be a bummer forย Pokemon Goย players as well.ย

While players gear up to return to school with some students now already back in their desks and ready to learn, others won’t be starting back till later in the month. Because of that, there’s plenty of time to have one last school blow-out before everyone’sย back in school come September.

The bonuses for these would be simple enough; extra Stardust, bonuses to the buddy system, pretty much anything that could make up for the time lost in school would be perfectly welcome rewards for such an event.

The Pikachu Outbreak Festival

An event that we know for sure is coming, the Pikachuย Outbreak Festival is hitting Japan very soon where tons of Pikachuย will descend upon the country. Parades, dances, and other festive activities will compose the event, andย Pokemon Goย will also be a major factor in the festival.

The festival itself will be taking place from Aug. 9-15, and on Aug. 14,ย Yokohama Stadium will be converted into aย Pokemonย Goย Stadium for players to take part in more challenges and festivities.

Much like players worldwide could take part in the Pokemonย Go Fest challenges and bonuses, it’s reasonable to think that Trainers could expect some benefit from the Japanese event. The big prize here that players can look forward to though lies in the speculation that another Legendary Pokemon, Ho-Oh, will make its grand entrance during the event as it’s added to the Legendary Raid roster.

International Youth Day

While some holiday are tied to specific countries and wouldn’t make very promising event opportunities, one international holiday that’s quickly approaching is International Youth Day, a date celebrated across multiple countries.

Established more than a decade ago, International Youth Day takes place on Aug. 12 and is all about the youngins. But forย Pokemonย Goย players, the holiday could also pertain to younger Pokemonย as well, specifically those that come from eggs.ย

In the past, events have rewarded players with bonuses such as decreased walking distance for hatching eggs. Such a bonus would make sense for International Youth Day as well, and with the holiday falling within the Pikachu Outbreak dates, adding it would be a simple and effective bonus for those already participating in the festivities.
