The Ultra Beasts are coming to the Pokemon Trading Card Game, and it looks like they could be game changers. Organizers of the Pokemon World Championships revealed that all Ultra Beast-GX cards would have a new game mechanic called “Red GX,” which is marked by the cards having red font for their GX-moves.

For those who don’t follow the Pokemon TCG regularly, GX cards are a new type of Pokemon card that have a special and ultra-powerful “GX-move.” Players can only use one GX card per game, but a well-timed GX move can usually turn the tide of a match.
While exact details about the “Red GX” moves aren’t known yet, it appears that they’re all tied to prizes, the scoring cards that determine who win or loses each match. Three Ultra Beast cards have been revealed so far, and each have a move that affects the prizes in some way.
For instance, Buzzwole-GX’s Absorption move does 40 damage for each Prize card a player has remaining, while Guzzlord-GX’s Glutton move will earn a player 2 prize cards if its used to knock out an opposing Pokemon. Nilhego-GX’s special move Parasite forces an opponent to add two cards to their prize card pile, which means they need to knock out up to 8 of your Pokemon instead of 6.
The Ultra Beast cards will be introduced in the “Crimson Darkness” expansion, which is due out in November. A lot of these cards will probably be sought after due to their massive potential.
