Pokemon Types Were Assigned To Every Injustice 2 Character, And It’s Turned Into A Heated Controversy

Some evil genius saw fit to go through every character on the Injustice 2 roster and assign them Pokemon types, and some of their choices have riled folks up.

The allocations of types to characters was handled by Reddit user “KingQuackster” in this thread. You can find the image they created above. At first glance there are a lot of really obvious choices here, and a lot of funny shoutouts. Of course Starfire is going to be a flying and fire type, and obviously Captain Cold is going to be an ice type. Blue Beetle is quite obviously a steel and bug type Poké-hero, and yeah, we can totally see Harley Quinn being a fairy type.

However, there are some controversial choices here that have sparked lively debate within the thread. Some of the posters are questioning the line of reasoning for several of these characters, which has led us to consider which type best applies to certain characters. Below you’ll find the most controversial Injustice 2 character Pokemon types, along with a few funny surprises!

Superman as Fire and Ice?

We immediately noticed that Superman was labeled as a fire type and ice type. On one hand, we get this assignment because Superman has heat vision and ice breath, and that’s fine, but someone pointed out that this is a huge missed opportunity to make Superman a steel type. I mean come one, he’s the Man of Steel!

While fire and ice types certainly apply here if we’re taking certain attacks into account, it seems to make more sense to label him as a steel type and flying type. That brings up the question, though: Do we label them based on their attacks, or based on their defining traits?

 

Catwoman as Dark Type?

We’re not quite sure why Catwoman would be labeled as a dark type unless it’s solely due to her affiliation with Batman. If anything, we think that normal and fighting types apply to her more directly, since she’s basically just a badass broad in a suit wielding a whip and some claws. If you think about the most famous cat in the Pokémon canon, Meowth, normal type seems like the most obvious type assignment. I didn’t run this by our resident Pokémon expert for approval, mind you, but I think we can all agree on this. Anyone out there think Catwoman should stay dark type?

Black Adam as Electric and Rock Type

Okay, this one is pretty good. When I saw the electric and rock type allocations for Black Adam I was puzzled. The electric type assignment makes sense for obvious reasons, but what’s up with making him rock type? Before we reveal the answer, can any of you think of why Black Adam makes sense as a rock type?

Ding ding! Dwayne Johnson, of course! “The Rock” will be playing the infamous Black Adam in his upcoming standalone film, something that totally slipped our mind until it was mentioned in the comments. We take it all back, all of our doubt; this man clearly knows what he’s doing!
