Nintendo just dropped a new trailer for the upcoming Pokemon games, revealing a ton of new information about them. The biggest surprise is a new PokeRide feature that will allow players to surf between the islands of the Alola region on a Mantine. In addition to granting players a sort of free-travel option, not unlike the soaring feature in Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, players can also do tricks and flips while surfing to earn points. We don’t know exactly how the new Mantine Surf function will work, but we’re guessing that players can unlock some pretty cool items with them.

The trailer had some other pretty cool reveals, which you can check out down below:

A New Island Challenge

The new trailer confirms that Island Challenges will make a return in Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon. Island Challenges replaced gyms in Pokemon Sun and Moon, as trainers completed puzzles and mini-games instead of facing a gauntlet of Pokemon battles. Each Island Challenge ended with a fight against a Totem Pokemon, an extra-sized Pokemon with beefed up stats and the ability to call in allies to help fight.

Speculation was rife that Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon would replace the Island Challenges with more traditional gyms, but it seems that the Alola region isn’t so quick to give up its traditions. In fact, Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon adds a new Trial Captain named Mina, who seems to have some sort of painting theme. Who wants to bet that Mina’s partner Pokemon is a Smeargle?

Over 400 Pokemon Will Appear In The Game

The other big reveal was that over 400 Pokemon will appear in Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon. One of the major complaints in Pokemon Sun and Moon was that the supposedly diverse ecosystems in the Alola region had way too few Pokemon. The new game will have over 100 additional species, including many that couldn’t be found in the original Pokemon Sun and Moon games.

Some of the Pokemon confirmed includeย Larvitar, Mareep, Houndoom, Zorua, Tropius, Larvesta, and Manectric. We’re also guessing that tropical Pokemon like Bellossom and Sun/Moon-related Pokemon like Solrock and Lunatone will also make appearances in the game.

The Alola Photo Club

Some additional information about the game’s new “Photo Club” feature was also revealed. Players will be able to pose for pictures with their Pokemon in special photo booth-like buildings.

Not only can players take pictures of themselves and their Pokemon, they can also add stickers and flair to the photos to give them a creative touch.

Players can also send the photos to friends, presumably through the Nintendo 3DS’s communication features.

As of now, we don’t know whether the Photo Club will replace the Poke Finder feature, which acted as a lite version of Pokemon Snap without all the secrets and nostalgia.

Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon comes out on November 17th.
