Report: Street Fighter V Could Be Getting A New Edition

Street Fighter V came out some time ago, and while Capcom's decisions with its launch left its sales being lesser than expected, the publisher has made up for it with a number of new fighter releases, as well as additional modes and other seasonal content.

Now it appears that the company may be considering a relaunch of the game, as a UK retailer has listed a new edition of the game on its website. According to ShopTo, the publisher is planning a Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition, noted for release on January 16, 2018 for a price of 39.99 in pounds.

Capcom is no stranger to repackaging its fighting games with additional content for players to enjoy. Street Fighter IV went through a number of releases over the past few years, starting with Super Street Fighter IV, then Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition, and eventually Ultra Street Fighter IV, which many fans consider the ultimate edition of the game.

The publisher didn't comment on the listing, and it does look a bit suspect, as it utilizes older artwork for the Street Fighter V game, as well as its older description. But those could be placeholders until Capcom announces the new edition of the game, which could come at any time, since the Capcom Cup is about to kick off for another year.

As for what could be included with the Arcade Edition, it would more than likely be all the DLC fighters that were introduced with the first season of the game, and maybe even a few that have come with the still-in-progress second season. There's also additional content we could see in it as well, such as stages, costumes and other goods. That's just speculation, though.

We'll have to wait and see what Capcom has planned with Street Fighter over the next few months, but it's very busy for them right now, especially with Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite making the rounds with its release this week. But who knows, we could see something very soon for the fans to enjoy.

Street Fighter V is available now for PlayStation 4 and PC.
