While we'll still be waiting a little while to hit the high seas with Rare's Sea of Thieves on Xbox One and PC, we do have some booty to dig into, as Microsoft has announced a pairing with Titan Comics to bring the video game to comics.

Titan Comics, as you may remember, previously teamed with Bethesda to produce comic books based on Wolfenstein and Dishonored comics, and also worked on other properties like Bloodborne and Tekken.

The first issue of the company's Sea of Thieves comic book line will actually be coming out in March, to coincide with the forthcoming game. It's a series that will be suitable for all ages, following the adventures of misfit pirates as they hit the seas and attempt to take any treasure that they can get their hands on.

The company describes the series as follows: "In Titan Comics' brand-new series, follow two competing crews of pirates, bound by a shared past and a single destiny, as they sail the Sea of Thieves in a race to track down an ancient treasure. Along the way they'll deal with undead hordes, devious traps and their own bitter rivalries, but which crew will emerge victorious and ultimately claim the legendary loot?"

The series is being written by Jeremy Whitley, who previously worked on Princeless and Thor vs. Hulk, and features art by Rhoald Marcellius, whose work includes Warren Ellis' Supergod and The Incredible Hulks. So obviously, it has some big-named talent behind it.

You can check out preliminary artwork from the first issue throughout this article. It definitely has that pirate-y sort of theme going for it, and looks to be a whole lot of fun – especially to those that have been eager to jump into the game.

If you wish, you can pre-order the first digital issue of the series over at Comixology, and prep for future issues to come. Don't forget that Dark Horse is also releasing an art book around the same time as the game as well, so you'll have plenty to read up on when you're not playing the game.

Sea of Thieves will release on March 20th for Xbox One and Windows PC.
