An upcoming Xbox game, one of the biggest releases left this year, has been confirmed as Steam Deck Verified before its release. In other words, the Xbox game will be completely playable and supported by the Steam Deck the moment it launches. Considering the release from Xbox Game Studios is still a month out, the fact that it has been verified for the Valve handheld machine comes as a bit of a surprise, though so far, Xbox Game Studios has been great about supporting the machine.

The Xbox game in question is Ninja Gaiden 4, which, despite being an Xbox Game Studios release, will be multi-platform when it hits on October 21, 2025. One of these platforms is Steam, where it is available to pre-order. Those on Steam Deck can do so knowing it will be verified at release; however, $70 will need to be forked over to play the game at launch. More than this, while Ninja Gaiden 4 will be Steam Deck Verified, this doesn’t mean it will run optimally on the machine.
There Still May Be Issues
For a game to be Steam Deck Verified, it means Valve has confirmed the PC game is playable on the machine from start to finish, as well as works with the handheld’s built-in controls and display. What it does not guarantee is that it’s going to run like a dream. In fact, we do not expect this to be the case.
Looking at the minimum requirements for the game on Steam, it’s hard to see Ninja Gaiden 4, especially in intense action scenes, not having frame rate issues. A stable 30 FPS could be achieved, but the resolution and graphical effects will have to suffer to facilitate this. It remains to be seen what exactly PlatinumGames’ approach will be, as it has not provided any details on the Steam Deck version. Whatever the case, it is an improvement from Borderlands 4, this month’s big Steam release, which does not run well on the Steam Deck.
First Big Steam Deck Verification in a Couple of Weeks
This new Steam Deck Verification comes at a great time, because it has been a couple of weeks since the latest big Steam Deck-verified game. As noted, Borderlands 4 came and went with no Steam Deck verification, which means the latest notable Steam release with Steam Deck verification is Cronos: The New Dawn.
