There is a new free PC game on Steam that has a 96/100 rating after 986 user reviews. This gives the free Steam game an “Overwhelmingly Positive” rating, the highest rating possible for a PC game on the Valve platform. To this end, 965 user reviews are positive, while 21 are negative. This is a great return for a free game. While it may be intuitive to assume something free is going to review better because it is free, this is often not the case. The opposite is often the case. When a PC game needs to be purchased, there is a barrier to entry that filters out everyone but those supremely interested. Those who are very interested in a game have built-in anticipation, usually through research or familiarity with the series. All of this is built-in approval.

Unfortunately, there is no official information on the game’s Steam Deck compatibility as Valve lists Steam Deck support as “Unknown.” That said, whether on PC or Steam Deck, every single Steam user can grab No Results Found for free. This is a new detective adventure game from developer Zzangdol Games and publisher Jungle Game Lab, the former of which has debuted with the release. And what a great debut it is. While only a few hours long, it is a high-quality and unique few hours. To this end, it’s very surprising it’s being given away for free and not being locked behind a purchase because it could absolutely require the latter from a quality perspective. In fact, it’s better than most PC games released on Steam so far this month, including those charging $50, $60, $70, and even $80.
“One of the Best Detective Games I’ve Played in a Long Time”
For those unfamiliar with this new, free release, in it you play as a religious studies researcher at a government agency who has been put on a newly reopened case involving the Church of the Nine-Tentacled Octopus. The year prior, 227 people affiliated with the church drowned in a mass religious ritual. After pressure from the victims’ families, the investigation, previously closed, has been reopened, and it is your job to reexamine what happened. It’s a pretty unique premise, and a pretty unique game overall, as you can tell from the trailer above.
“No Result Found is one of the best detective games I’ve played in a long time,” reads one of the aforementioned user reviews. “If you enjoy mystery or detective games, this is an easy recommendation. It genuinely feels like you’re investigating a real case rather than simply following a story. The sense of discovery is fantastic, the deduction mechanics are engaging, and the entire experience is polished from start to finish.”
This is more or less what every other positive review of the game notes: the unique story and its incredible sense of atmosphere. Negative reviews mostly highlight how obtuse the game can be and the fact that AI was used in development.
If this new free Steam game isn’t for you or you have already checked it out, there is currently a former Game of the Year winner also being given away for free.
