Sony has unveiled a huge overhaul to their PlayStation companion app to make the design sleeker, easier to use, and to encompass more of the platform’s features. Now it’s easier than ever to stay connected and in the game with all of the new changes that Sony has implemented. It’s also completely free for Android and iOS users.

The new design promises a much smoother experience experience. According to Sony:ย

“A change you’ll notice when you boot up the PS App, are the new tabs at the bottom of the screen for popular features such as What’s New, Friends, and your Profile. It’s now easier and faster to switch between viewing who’s online, what they are playing, and keeping up with the latest activities and posts from your friends and the PlayStation community.

You can now also easily access PlayStation Store, voucher code redemption, and other popular apps and features, including Events, Trophies, PlayStation Plus, and a list of new and upcoming PlayStation 4 games by using the new blue PlayStation button at the bottom.”

Once the update is live, those who are familiar with the app might notice a change to the Live from PlayStation portion. Though it won’t be directly accessible from the app’s main screen, users can still watch their favourite broadcasts on the PlayStation 4 dashboard itself. For the PS4 Second Screen function, there will be a separate app just for that so that the switch between the two can be easier to manage. It can also be used a keyboard for the system itself, perfect for those gamer-to-gamer connections, or just searching through the PlayStation store.

The PlayStation app is free to download on both Android and iOS devices. Sony also promises a ton of new updates on the way, so stay tuned!ย ย
