7 Unannounced Games That Are 100% Happening

There are so many great video games constantly releasing, it’s almost hard to keep up. Between August 2025 and October, we will have seen the releases of a new Battlefield game, Borderlands 4, Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, Mafia: The Old Country, Ghost of Yotei, Hollow Knight: Silksong, Dying Light: The Beast, and Silent Hill f, just to name a few. There are a lot of things to play all of the time, but many of us have those white whales that we look forward to, like GTA 6, and even some unannounced games that we all know in our heart of hearts are definitely happening.

This is an industry that operates in total secrecy, so we are all subjected to rumors, leaks, and speculation to find out what’s really going on at our favorite video game studios. With all of that said, now seems like a perfect time to assess the state of the industry and figure out which games that haven’t been announced are almost definitely going to happen. Some of these titles have been heavily rumored, and maybe people involved have even slipped up about it, but there hasn’t been a proper announcement from the studio saying it’s on the way.

7) Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4

call of duty: modern warfare 3

To start things off extremely easily, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is a lock and will likely release in 2026. The Modern Warfare series seems to be the most popular of all of the Call of Duty sub-franchises and that story was left dangling at the end of Modern Warfare III. Although the original series concluded after three games, it seems like Infinity Ward is going to keep making them so long as people enjoy them and buy them.

There’s still a score to settle between Captain Price and Makarov now that Soap is dead, but in a change of direction from the original trilogy, Ghost still lives. Given how much fans love Ghost and were bummed by how he died so early, it’s likely Infinity Ward is going to keep him alive for as many games as possible. Rumors indicate that Modern Warfare 4 will feature North Korea in a major capacity, with Makarov pulling the strings to incite World War III. We’ll likely hear more about this game next summer.

6) Marvel’s Spider-Man 3

Insomniac Games’ Spider-Man series is one of the most popular franchises on PlayStation. They’re extremely well-crafted superhero games that empower the player to swing and glide around New York City while beating up bad guys. The stories are emotional, the set pieces are epic, and they’re all extremely fun to play. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 set the stage for a third game that will feature Silk, the return of Doc Ock, and seemingly the long-awaited debut of the Green Goblin. Some of the actors have teased Marvel’s Spider-Man 3 already, but it hasn’t been officially announced by Insomniac nor PlayStation.

5) Uncharted 5

The Uncharted series is one of the first games to really bring in the era of cinematic PlayStation exclusives. Naughty Dog brought a movie-like quality to these games and they were some of the best action/adventure games out there for about a decade straight. Although Nathan Drake’s story largely concluded with Uncharted 4, the world loves legacy sequels.

We already know that Bend Studio briefly worked on a new Uncharted game at the start of the decade, but it got scrapped. That shows some sort of demand from PlayStation to keep that franchise alive, even if Naughty Dog isn’t leading the charge. However, there is a second, secret game in development at Naughty Dog that isn’t Intergalactic. It’s heavily speculated to be a new Uncharted game and one that could be led by Nate’s daughter, Cassie. It seems safe to say another Uncharted game will happen eventually, though when is a big mystery.

4) Assassin’s Creed 4 Remake

While some fans have been hoping to see Assassin’s Creed get the remake treatment, Ubisoft appears to be skipping the line and doing a remake of Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag instead. It is widely regarded as one of the best Assassin’s Creed games, so this isn’t a massive surprise, but it is also a game that is easy to pick up and play on modern platforms already. As for what a remake of that game could look like, no one knows.

Edward Kenway actor Matt Ryan has also teased the Assassin’s Creed 4 remake a few times at conventions, so it seems likely. This remake has been in the works for a few years now, so it seems like something that could probably release within the next year if everything goes smoothly.

3) Halo: Combat Evolved Remake

One other remake fans are anticipating is Halo: Combat Evolved. It has been teased that Halo will have some sort of new release next year and it’s rumored to be a remake of the very first game. Next year marks the 25th anniversary of both Xbox and Halo, so it only makes sense to celebrate with a remake of the game that really started it all. It is also believed that this is sort of a testing ground for Halo Studios, which recently pivoted to Unreal Engine 5 after years of working on its own internal engine. Having the framework for a game that already exists certainly helps when trying to learn a new engine.

2) The Last of Us Part 3

The Last of Us Part 3 seems like a game that’s definitely going to happen. Although Neil Druckmann had made some comments that made people doubt that The Last of Us Part 3 would happen, he has also made other comments that feel more reassuring. While Intergalactic is obviously his and Naughty Dog’s ultimate focus, it would be shocking if they didn’t make one more game that ties everything up in a totally cohesive way. This is one of PlayStation’s most successful franchises and it has spawned a lucrative adaptation as well.

Even if the next game isn’t a continuation of Ellie’s story, though I think it will be, it’s highly likely The Last of Us franchise will continue on in some capacity. It seems like the now-cancelled Last of Us Online would’ve been a way to tide players over in between games, but now we are left with a bit of a hole.

1) Half-Life 3

half-life 2

I know, this sounds crazy. However, the rumor mill has been buzzing for some time now that Half-Life 3 is imminent. The game has apparently been in the works at Valve for some time now and could release sometime this holiday season or at the very least be revealed around that time. Given that Valve went out of its way to end Half-Life: Alyx by rewriting the ending of Half-Life 2: Episode 2, it seems like they have plans to continue the story of Gordon Freeman.

Creating another cliffhanger that seemingly writes them out of a corner and then not doing anything with it would be evil. It would only make sense to do it if they had a plan in place to do Half-Life 3 and lots of rumors suggest that they are. It’s a stain on Valve’s legacy that they seem to want to fix and I would bet money it’s going to happen.
