Netflix and Marvel released the final trailer for Marvel's The Defenders yesterday and if getting a glimpse of Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist coming together to take on The Hand and the mysterious Alexandra wasn't exciting enough? There may just be another reason to give the trailer a repeat watch. Some attentive fans have noticed that the trailer has a casual callback to 2012's The Avengers.

In the opening scene of the trailer, the Defenders are sitting down for a meal of Chinese food with Luke making an incredulous comment about how much Danny Rand is eating. Danny replies that he must eat so much summon his chi and then makes comments about how they could work as a team.

The scene kind of feels like a reference to the post-credits "shawarma" scene from The Avengers. The heroes had already come together to save New York and are having an exhausted celebration by sharing a silent meal together. The Defenders, with the war for New York just starting, flips that scene on its head from the relationship between the heroes down to the details of their surroundings. The restaurant in the Avengers is being cleaned up after the defeat of the Chitauri while the clean and orderly Chinese restaurant in the Defenders trailer is about to get really messed up by the Hand.

It's a nice nod to the rest of the MCU considering that both The Avengers film and The Defenders series deal with a city at risk of total devastation but while we know how things worked out for the Avengers fans still have a few more days to wait to see how the Defenders unlikely partnership will shake out with the series premiering on Netflix August 18th.

Marvel's The Defenders follows Daredevil (Charlie Cox), Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter), Luke Cage (Mike Colter) and Iron Fist (Finn Jones). A quartet of singular heroes with one common goal – to save New York City. This is the story of four solitary figures, burdened with their own personal challenges, who realize they just might be stronger when teamed together.
