Agents of SHIELD Season 4 has brought veteran SHIELD agents and longtime co-works Melina May (Ming-Na Wen) and former SHIELD director Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg) together in a new way. May and Coulson have been inching closer to a romantic relationship and they show no signs of hitting the brakes despite May being replaced by a life model decoy imposter.

May and Coulson have been mother and father figures to Daisy “Quake” Johnson since she was still Skye, the girl with a mysterious past who infiltrated SHIELD looking for answers. While actress Chloe Bennet, who plays Quake, finds seeing her co-stars warming to each other something akin to seeing a brother and sister do the same thing, her character feels differently.

“She thinks it’s cute,” Bennet tells Entertainment Weekly. “She loves these two people and they deserve happiness at work and not at work.”

However, being “team Philinda” isn’t enough for Quake to notice anything out of place with May.

“It’s hard to tell because she already is so distant, so maybe the thing that Daisy would notice most is the whole lack of distance and the pique of her interest in things that maybe she wouldn’t be interested in,” Bennet says. “It’ll be an interesting reveal when the team finds out.”
