In a slightly less divisive and controversial area of voting, Doctor Strange has had a great first week at the movies for comic book fans. The film had already received a "Certified Fresh" from critics on the review aggregator site Rotten Tomatoes, but now it's up to the fans.

While it doesn't have nearly the user votes some of its competitors do, those who have rated the film are very much enjoying it. With a 4.38/5 star average from users, plus ratings pulled from other major media services, Doctor Strange comes in at #5 overall on ComicBook.com's Movie Composite Rankings with an 83.52 (out of a possible 100) score. The ComicBook.com Composite is a proprietary algorithm that compiles ratings listed in the public domain by the major media services and user ratings from the ComicBook.com community, creating the industry's most comprehensive and unbiased movie ratings and rankings.

The ranking gives Marvel Studios 4 of the top 5 films on our list, with only WB's The Dark Knight ruining the clean sweep and taking the top spot (with a composite of 89.5). Strange comes in under Captain America: Civil War, Guardians of the Galaxy, and Iron Man, respectively, and debuted less than half a composite point over Deadpool, also from 2016. Not bad for Director Scott Derrickson's first comic book movie!

This is where you, the reader, comes in. by clicking on a star in the box above, you can add your rating to the composite and make your voice heard. Is Doctor Strange deserving of the top five all-time comic movies designation? Should it be even higher? Is that rating a case of recency bias, with fans and critics alike rating it higher simply because it's the newest shiny for them to marvel over?

Doctor Strange had a better than expected debut both domestic (over $85 million) and overseas, and is expected to win its second weekend in the U.S. box office with relative ease. Paramount's Arrival comes on a much smaller budget (and hype level), and shouldn't offer much of a challenge despite being another well-reviewed genre film.
