Star-Lord Guardians of the Galaxy

During an interview with MTV News in promotion of his new film Not Fade Away, actor Jack Huston confirmed speculation that he is one of the leading men in contention to play Peter Quill, also known as Star-Lord, in the forthcoming film adaptation of Marvel Comics's Guardians of the Galaxy. "There was a screen test. Like I said, brittle bones. Maybe they'll call me Glass Man. 'Here he comes. Oh, he fell over,'" Huston joked, referencing an injury he sustained on the set of Not Fade Away. He added, "I would love to do it. I tell you, these bones are strong. If you need a guardian to look after this galaxy, look no further." Lee Pace has already admitted to reading for the part as well, with Garrett Hedlund apparently out of the running after having taken a gig for Disney doing the third Tron film. Joel Edgerton and Eddie Redmayne have also recently taken jobs that would seem to put them out of contention for the part, whittling the previously established shortlist down to the two who have already auditioned, plus Jim Sturgess and James Marsden. Sullivan Stapleton has reportedly been "added" to the short list since the last time we reported on it as well. Directed by James Gunn, Guardians of the Galaxy is arguably the least "sure thing" Marvel Studios has produced since The Incredible Hulk. It's also the first new property to be introduced into "Phase Two" of Marvel's cinematic universe; the other non-sequel slated for a movie in this round of films is Ant-Man, which has been long in development under Scott Pilgrim vs. the World director Edgar Wright.
