It seems Marvel fans may meet some of Gamora’s extended family in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

During a live Facebook question and answer session, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 director James Gunn was reminded of a moment from the first Guardians of the Galaxy movie when Nebula noted that Gamora was the sibling she hated the least. This line implies that Nebula and Gamora aren’t Thanos’s only adopted children, and led the fan to ask if more would be introduced in the third chapter of the Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy.

Gunn wouldn’t comment because he did not want to answer any questions about the third movie, but he did say that he thought that was “a great thing to point out.”

At the very least, this seems to indicate that Nebula‘s comment was not a throwaway line that Gunn has forgotten about. At this early stage in development, its very possible that there aren’t any final plans about Gamora and Nebula‘s other siblings, but it is certainly something to watch out for.

And who are these other siblings? There’s no easy answer to find in the Marvel Comics material, but one place Gunn could look for inspiration is Gamora’s Graces. This was a group of female cosmic heroines who worshiped Gamora as a goddess for a time. Nebula was among the group, so perhaps that well could be tapped again to add more members to the family.
