During Marvel's red carpet for the Captain America: Civil War world premiere, Doctor Strange director Scott Derrickson talked more about other movies and talent from them than his own.
Derrickson revealed that Marvel Studios is basically one big family when it comes to the directors of the individual films.
“Everybody talks to everybody," Derrickson revealed. Specifically, he got some help from another director. "I got notes on the Doctor Strange script from James Gunn, and I talk to him every once in awhile, ask him questions," throughout the process, he said.
Derrickson also gave some credit to one of the Civil War directors for getting the job in the first place.
"Joe Russo is part of why I got this job," he said. "Joel McHale is my best friend, and he knows Joe, so Joe kind of got in my corner, and helped me land it."
Marvel Studios has always vocally talked about coordination, especially between president Kevin Feige and the directors, but this level, with directors working so closely together, shows how the story is all building into one cohesive story.
