James Gunn Shares Special Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 'Groot' Script

Even though Groot is virtually limited to one phrase, "I am Groot," Vin Diesel (Fast & Furious), the actor who voices the humanoid plant, has the challenge of recording numerous variations of the line. By varying his inflection and cadence, those three words mean something different each time.

Since Rocket has been around Groot the longest, he is the only one, so far, that can interpret what he's saying. Of course, that may change in the sequel, though this time Diesel is voicing a pint-sized version of Groot.

In order to know how to deliver each "I am Groot" line, writer/director James Gunn provides Diesel with his own script that spells out in English what Groot is truly saying. On Friday, Gunn posted an image of it.

"The special Groot version of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 that only Vin Diesel & I have," Gunn wrote, "where every Groot line is printed in English."

Set to the backdrop of 'Awesome Mixtape #2,' Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 continues the team's adventures as they traverse the outer reaches of the cosmos. The Guardians must fight to keep their newfound family together as they unravel the mysteries of Peter Quill's true parentage. Old foes become new allies and fan-favorite characters from the classic comics will come to our heroes' aid as the Marvel cinematic universe continues to expand.
