Since it’s initial debut Thursday morning, the second and final trailer for Logan continues to amass millions of views. The film is highly anticipated amongst fans, particularly for the fact that it draws inspiration from the “Old Man Logan” comic series released in 2008 and 2009.

However, a unique version of the trailer draws its inspiration from a completely different piece of X-Men media – the various animated series. A video made by YouTube user Philysteak combines the audio of the newest red-band Logan trailer with clips from two X-Men cartoons, X-Men: The Animated Series (which ran from 1992-1997) and X-Men Evolution (which ran from 2000-2003).

While the fan-made trailer occasionally shows a slightly-older Laura Kinney/X-23 than in the live-action adaptation (played in the film by Dafne Keen), the footage from the cartoons matches the events in Logan surprisingly well. And of course, as the audio is from the red-band version of the trailer, the anachronism of seeing cartoon Logan and Professor X swear is a highlight of the video.
You can watch more of Philysteak’s trailer edits – which include Batman vs. Superman, X-Men: Apocalypse, and Wonder Woman, on their Youtube playlist here.
In the year 2029, a weary Logan cares for an ailing Professor X in a hide out on the Mexican border. But Logan’s attempts to hide from the world and his legacy are up-ended when a young mutant arrives, being pursued by dark forces.
Logan stars Hugh Jackman (Logan), Boyd Holbrook (Donald Pierce), Patrick Stewart (Charles Xavier), Dafne Keen (Laura Kinney/X-23), Doris Morgado (Maria), Stephen Merchant (Caliban), Elizabeth Rodriguez (Gabriela), and Richard E. Grant (Dr. Zander Rice). James Mangold is directing and helped on the screenplay along with Scott Frank and Michael Green.
