The Eisner Award winning creator of Hip-Hop Family Tree is compiling the entire history of the X-Men franchise into a single six issue miniseries. Marvel announced that Ed Piskor is writing and drawing a six issue miniseries called X-Men Grand Designs. Every chapter of the miniseries will condense a decade of X-Men adventures into a single comic.

Piskor is an acclaimed indie comics artist best known for Hip-Hop Family Tree, an extensive history of the origins of hip-hop music. While Piskor tends to focus on mostly historical events in his comics, his love of the X-Men is well-known. The covers of Hip-Hop Family Tree tends to feature historical rappers recreating classic Marvel covers.
Marvel will release two issues of X-Men Grand Designs a year, along with a paperback collection that reprints those two issues along with a classic X-Men story.
In what might be a first for Marvel, Piskor will write, draw, ink, color, and letter each issue of X-Men Grand Designs all on his own.
On Twitter, Piskor admitted that he got X-Men Grand Designs because of a tweet he made back in 2015. Piskor said that he could condense the first 300 issues of Uncanny X-Men into a single, satisfying storyline.

To promote the series, Marvel released all six interlocking covers for X-Men Grand Designs, which show different iterations of the team (including a graveyard symbolizing the X-Men‘s tragic fate in the classic plotline “Days of Future Past.” You check out the covers to all six issues in the gallery above.
The first issue of X-Men Grand Design will be released in December.
