Deadpool is known as the merc with a mouth for numerous reasons, but as the nickname suggests it is based on his inability to stop talking, even in the direst of circumstances. This might sound a bit like Marvel’s other talkative hero Spider-Man, and you’d be right in a sense. The big difference, of course, is that Spidey doesn’t say all of his inner thoughts out loud, and has never spoken directly to his zombified head.

Those are all tings that make Deadpool quite unique, and over the years the popular character has undergone a few changes. From his time as a Pirate and off and on X-Man to his days as Agent X (an underappreciated gem mind you), he’s experimented with a few looks. The character is more popular than ever thanks to Ryan Reynolds and Tim Miller’s immensely successful film adaptation, which brought the character to life in a way few thought possible. He’s even spawned a few new characters, including Lady Deadpool and Gwenpool, all of whom have gained substantial popularity of their own.

So sit back and relax as ComicBook ranks the top 5 Deadpool costumes of all time, but first hit the next slide to see the rest of the staff’s favorites!

Based upon Marvel Comics‘ most unconventional anti-hero, Deadpool tells the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson, who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humor, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life.

Deadpool 2 is directed by David Leitch and written by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick. Deadpool stars Ryan Reynolds, Zazie Beetz, Karan Soni, Brianna Hildebrand and Stefan Kapiฤiฤ‡. Morena Baccarin and T.J. Miller are also expected to return.

Deadpool’s Holiday Blu-ray package is now available and retails for $25.99. Deadpool 2 is expected to begin filming next year and is due out January 12, 2018.

J.K. Schmidt: Blue and Yellow

Charlie Ridgely: I really like Back in Black version

Christian Hoffer: I kind of like the Gwenpoolย costume.

Dallas Jackson: Deadpoolย teasing as an X-Man — wish the masked changed with the costume, though.

Chris Killian: The burnt-to-a-crisp Ryan Reynolds nude fight version.

GwenPool

Okay okay, so this isn’t Wade Wilson persay, but if any character was going to break the bounds of being stricly defined by his character, it’s Deadpool, right? Right?

Whatever, you know what, the approaval isn’t even needed. Gwenpool is on the list because she’s just a crazy as Wade is, but yet happens to have a friendly “we might get together and play Pogs one day” vibe. Her outfit is a big part of that, with the birght purple and white color scheme offsetting the fact that she can kill you in literally an instant, and probably without getting any blood on her clothes.

Lady Deadpool

Deadpoolย tends to love his look, so it takes a lot for him to let someone else use it. Only a few have that oh so elusive honor, a group that includes Wanda Wilson. Wanda is the Earth 3010 counterpart to Wade, and doses out violence as well as he does, though with a much more 90’s haircut. Not exactly “the Rachel” but whatever, it works for her.

Deadpool Modern

Good old Wade Wilson has had the red and black outfit pretty much since he debuted back in New Mutants #98, and if a costume is a perfection there’s really no reason to alter it.

As a product of the Weapon X program, Wade has often done his dirty work in the classic costume, though it has received some tweaks along the way. A few extra grenade pouches here, some questionableย 90’s belts there, but overall the classic red and black with Deadpool belt buckle remains unblemished.

Deadpool (X-Force)

He didn’t sport it for very long but few costumes seemed to complementย the rather gray area that Deadpoolย lives in better than this X-Force costume.

The gray and black costume has a few red highlights, namely in the eyes and X-symbol, but more often than not the red on theย suit was blood from some random encounter Wade had along the way. That nifty healing factor guarantees that he won’t die from his wounds, but that doesn’t mean he won’t look gruesome while he’s healing, like in the handy header image seen below.

Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds)

You might be confused to see this version of the costume in the top spot while the comic version is in the third spot. This decision is subjective of course, but then again to clarifyย this is a character who carried around his own zombified head for awhile and put Rhino in a keychain, so logic and reason really have no place in decision-making when it comes to Wade Wilson.

That said, the suit did take main inspiration from the classic suit and brought it to life on the big screen. This didn’t apply to just the costume either, as the makeup on Ryan Reynolds to give him that, well, rather horrid facial look was also straight from the comics. They even got the CG eyes right. In short, it was just about perfect and takes the top spot it deserves.
