If there is one thing Robert Downey Jr. excels at, it is being a hype man. The actor is best-known for his work as Iron Man, but Downey is also the MCU's biggest promoter. So, it's no surprise to see the actor recently posted a special behind-the-scenes photo of him working on Avengers: Infinity War.
It's just that the people posing next to Downey are somewhat unexpected.
Over on Instagram, Downey shared a photo of himself posing alongside two familiar faces. The actor is seen pulling a funny face at a camera while Gwyneth Paltrow and Jon Favreau stand next to him. The pair look pleasant enough with their smiles on display, and Downey's crooked grin is enough to pull an amused snort from even the Winter Soldier.
"Infinity Trinity," Downey captioned the photo.
Looking at the picture, it is hard for fans to tell where the still was snapped. The trio appear to be filming outside in a wooded area, and each star appears to be dressed in character. Favreau is rocking Happy Hogan's suit while Paltrow is dressed down in some classy sweats. As for Downey, the actor is wearing an athletic undershirt that has an opening for his Arc Reactor plating. The piece itself is obscured by a neatly tied jacket, but it doesn't look like Tony is in any dire need for the power source. The trio aren't under any direct fire, so the scene might take place before Thanos reaches Earth and makes good on his plans for universal destruction.
Earlier today, fans learned more about Paltrow's role in Marvel's upcoming Avengers films. Production began on Avengers 4 this month, and new set photos hit the Internet which captured Paltrow on-set with Downey and Favreau. The pair were seen in dressed-down clothes while Mark Ruffalo stood off to the side. The characters' presence seems to confirm the duo will live through Avengers: Infinity War. Thanos may be out to take over the universe, but Iron Man will manage to keep his closest friends safe from the Mad Titan at first. However, there is no telling whether Tony will be able to keep the schtick up as Avengers 4 comes to pass.
