Spider-Man: Homecoming has received lots of love for its superhero story, but its coming-of-age aesthetic has also got fans swooning. The film follows Peter as he deals with high school, struggles with his aunt, and crushes hard on a very popular girl. However, thanks to some new comments from Tom Holland himself, the actor may have wanted the film to be – well – a lot more steamy.

Recently, the British native sat down with Capital FM for an interview, and Holland revealed how involved he was with Spider-Man: Homecoming.

“I’ve always wanted to be in a movie where I could collaborate with the directors and producers to bring ideas to the table. I’m just lucky that I had the opportunity with this movie,” he said.

“I was writing scenes and writing ideas and making set pieces and just sending them off to Marvel. A lot of them, they were like, ‘No, that’s a terrible idea.’ But a couple they did take and put in the movie.”

However, when Holland was asked what kind of scenes Marvel Studios vetoed, the actor said this: “I was like, ‘We should have a really passionate sex scene,’ and they were like, ‘No, I don’t think so.’ Fully nude, and I am method, you know. It’s the only way.”

Yeah, a scene such as that would have changed the tone of Spider-Man: Homecoming.

Of course, there’s little doubt that Holland was kidding about the pitch. The anecdote was full of laughter, and the actor is a big enough fan of Spider-Man to know the hero wouldn’t be hooking up in his first standalone movie. When it comes to schmoozing around, the MCU will leave its one-night stands to Tony Stark.

There is a chance future Spider-Man: Homecoming films could delve into Peter’s sexuality. Marvel Studios has said the hero will get a trilogy that spans over the hero’s high school years. Peter is at the age where hormones start racing, and it looks like one of his classmates Michelle has a certain interest in the Queens hero already. The pair may not ever hit the sheets, but fans would be interested in seeing how Holland’s iteration of Spider-Man acts when he is in a full-blown relationship.

Just, let’s hope the actor doesn’t pitch any other wild romantic scenes for Spider-Man’s coming outings. Spider-Man: Homecoming is in theaters now! Give it your personal rating below!
