Now that Stephen Moyer is officially part of the X-Men family, he is constantly asked about whether his wife Anna Paquin would reprise her mutant role on FOX's new superhero series The Gifted.

But while Moyer has tried to temper fan expectations regarding Rogue's appearance on the small screen, Paquin herself seems to have squashed the possibility during an interview with CinemaBlend.

"I feel like that would be distracting, honestly," said Paquin during an interview about her new Netflix series Alias Grace. "I mean, look, who knows? But I feel like that's one of those things that probably takes people out of the story in a weird way."

Paquin played Rogue in four different X-movies, including the timeline-altering X-Men: Days of Future Past. But she obviously doesn't sound interested in reprising that role or playing a new character on The Gifted.

"If I was the creative force behind it, I'm not sure I would want to splice True Blood married people with different X-Men families," Paquin said. "I feel like that might be a little schticky."

While Paquin might not be into the idea, it makes sense to fans. Paquin starred alongside her husband Moyer on True Blood, where they played the perennial 'on again, off again' couple of Sookie Stackhouse and Bill Compton.

Though Moyer plays family man Reed Strucker in the new series, the constant references to X-Men and mutants have fans clamoring for the appearance of someone like Rogue to confirm some sort of connection to the cinematic universe.

But the producers have established that The Gifted is in its own "universe," just like Legion and the X-Men movies that exist on their own. Though Days of Future Past opened up the timeline to different possibilities, producer Lauren Shuler Donner doesn't seem interested in crossing them over and polluting the different brands.

So if you want to see Anna Paquin on your TV screens in the future, you should tune into Alias Grace when it premieres on Netflix.

The Gifted airs Mondays on FOX.
