Marvel's god of thunder has reached a new milestone at the box office.

Thor: Ragnarok passed the $500 million mark worldwide on Wednesday, setting the film up to achieve even loftier goals over its next weekend at the box office.

Thor: Ragnarok is the 12th consecutive Marvel Cinematic Universe movie to cross the $500 million mark worldwide and the 14th film to do so out of all 17 films released in the Marvel Cinematic Universe so far.

Thor: Ragnarok currently has a domestic box office gross of $155 million and a foreign box office gross of $354 million, bringing its worldwide total to $509 million.

Thor: Ragnarok is so far outperforming Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and Doctor Strange in international markets, suggesting that the third Thor movie's international gross alone could total more than $500 million by the time its theatrical run is finished.

Thor: Ragnarok is projected to earn another $60 million domestically in its second weekend.

Thor: Ragnarok is Marvel Studios' 17th consecutive film to open at number one at the box office. The film even nearly passed the lifetime total of predecessor Thor: The Dark World in China in a single weekend.

The success of the Thor: Ragnarok has also allowed the Marvel Cinematic Universe to become the first franchise in history to earn more than $5 billion at the domestic box office.

Thor: Ragnarok has also been a hit with fan and critics, debuting at number six in the ComicBook.com Composite Rankings.

Thor: Ragnarok currently has an 84.58 ComicBook.com Composite score, the eighth highest composite score of any comic book movie.
