With the amount of information that makes its way onto the Internet, it’s nearly impossible to keep track of what’s real and what’s fake, especially when it involves superhero media. Every week, a new rumor makes the rounds that claims a character not seen in years will make their grand return in an upcoming project, or that two actors on the set of a Marvel Studios movie are feuding. What makes matters even worse is that even the conversation around official events put on by companies like Disney gets hijacked by trolls who make it their mission to gain retweets instead of educating the public on the facts.

D23 finds itself in the spotlight right now because it provided an update on the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe film, Avengers: Doomsday. With the movie still well over a year away, the powers that be are remaining tight-lipped, not wanting to put the cart before the horse. However, that’s not stopping inaccurate information from making the rounds. Here’s every Avengers: Doomsday “reveal” from D23 that’s actually fake.
Marvel Studios Hasn’t Released an Avengers: Doomsday Poster or Footage Yet

Since D23 is trending on social media, it’s only natural for people to search the topic on platforms like X. Going down that rabbit hole will only lead to pain, though, because the top result under the Avengers: Doomsday topic bar is a fake poster that has its fair share of views. The image features Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom on the right side, seated on a throne, while the left side showcases every confirmed hero to appear in the movie. Reed Richards is at the front of the pack, but that in and of itself should be a dead giveaway because the idea of the leader of the Fantastic Four taking command over the Avengers has already been debunked.
Heading over to Marvel’s social media accounts will also help put out the fire. One would think that if Marvel Studios were ready to show the world the poster for its biggest movie to date, it would just release it and not let a grainy image a fan took dominate the headlines. Doomsday will get a poster, and it may come before the end of the year. However, the one coming out of D23 is nothing but a hoax, just like the idea that footage was shown.
The Russo Brothers Did Have Something to Say About Avengers: Doomsday

While there have been some claims that the first footage of Doomsday was shown to fans lucky enough to be in the room for the panel, that’s not accurate. What was played was a video message from Anthony and Joe Russo, the directors of Doomsday. They were joined by Paul Rudd, who will reprise his role as Ant-Man for the fifth Avengers film, to discuss the sheer scope of their latest project, with them calling it “The biggest movie they’ve ever done.” The Russo brothers also wanted to set the tone for their next MCU film, so they included a teaser of sorts that replayed footage from the Doomsday cast chair reveal (via The Direct).
Rather than making everyone sit around for hours for a second time, the teaser sped things up and played dialogue from iconic Marvel moments. MCU favorites like Sam Wilson and Shuri got to join in on the fun, as did a couple of X-Men characters. Of course, several members of the Fox cast will be returning for Doomsday, and the Russo brothers want everyone to know they are important parts of the movie, not just glorified cameos. The teaser also serves as a reminder of how wide a net Doomsday is casting. With the MCU’s Multiverse Saga about to reach its climax, familiar faces, as well as new ones, will be joining the fray, which means plenty of surprises are on the way. Obviously, Marvel Studios isn’t ready to share all of them just yet, but when it is, there’s no doubt it’ll be screaming all the information off the rooftops itself.
Avengers: Doomsday hits theaters December 18, 2026.
