Blade Runner director Ridley Scott returns to co-write the sequel, along with original writer Hampton Fancher and Michael Green. Denis Villeneuve (Prisoners) is attached to direct.
Set decades after the original film, which was a lose adaptation of the Philip K. Dick novella Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?, Harrison Ford will reprise his role as Rick Deckard, though only in a minor role. Ryan Gosling will take the lead in the sequel. No further plot details have been revealed at this time.
Production on Blade Runner 2 is set to begin in July 2016. Alcon Entertainment is producing the film, and Warner Bros. will handle domestic distribution. Sony Pictures Releasing International will take the film international.
