October is here and with it, the real start of Spooky Season for many of us. That means it’s time for pumpkins, too much candy, and binge-watching our favorite horror movie franchises. One particular franchise that burst onto the scene in the 2000s has often been scattered between various streaming services, but the start of October saw most of its films head to Hulu, making it much easier to watch than usual.

The Saw franchise, launched in 2003 by James Wan and Leigh Whannell, has kept up its popularity through an absolute roller coaster of quality over the years. Despite some widely hated entries, the Saw series remains a favorite for many, and its Jigsaw traps have left a lasting legacy on the industry.
There are 10 total movies in the Saw franchise, released between 2004 and 2023. Seven of the 10 films in the series were added to Hulu on October 1st. Not only that, but the seven that were added are the first seven of the franchise, and they represent the original core story of the series.
Hulu’s October 1st additions included the original Saw, Saw II, Saw III, Saw IV, Saw V, Saw VI, and Saw: The Final Chapter (aka Saw 3D). Those films were all added in consecutive years, from 2004 to 2010, so they all tell one (relatively) cohesive story. The franchise was given a pseudo-reboot in 2017 with Jigsaw, followed by the “re-imagining” known as Spiral in 2021, and the full-circle legacy prequel Saw X in 2023.
Two of those movies โ Jigsaw, Spiral โ were already streaming on Hulu prior to the arrival of the rest of the franchise this month. So fans looking for a horror franchise binge on a single streaming service have nine Saw films to work through on Hulu.

Future Saw Movies
Due to its unique nature, with the Jigsaw killer setting life lesson-inspired traps for his victims, Saw has largely stayed popular over the past two decades. There really isn’t anything else like it, so fans continue to hope for more entries.
After the success of Saw X, Lionsgate announced that another sequel was in the works, and it was supposed to be released back in 2024. That obviously didn’t happen. The film fell apart due to creative differences between the producing partners and the issues weren’t able to be fixed.
However, just as it seemed as though Saw might be done for good, Blumhouse and Atomic Monster swooped in to take over the Twisted Pictures stake in the franchise. Along with this update came the news that James Wan, who directed the original movie, would be involved creatively in the next installment, marking his first time working with the franchise since Saw III.
