Director Guillermo del Toro (Crimson Peak) has issued a response to reports of Pacific Rim 2 being "indefinitely halted."

"We are still turning in a screenplay and a budget in three weeks," Guillermo Del Toro told Entertainment Weekly. "As far as I'm concerned, it's not gone. We're still on it. It moved further."

The delay is significant enough that he is considering other options in the interim "I may do another movie in the middle," he said.

Could it be Justice League Dark? Rumor has it, WB loved Guillermo's script for it but he chose to direct Pacific Rim 2 instead of Justice League Dark. Now that he is available you would have to assume he could make room for DC Comics' supernatural heroes -- Constantine, Swamp Thing, Zatanna, and Deadman.

Guillermo will direct Pacific Rim 2, based on a script he wrote with screenwriter Zak Penn (Elektra, X-Men: The Last Stand). Jaeger pilots Raleigh Becket (Charlie Hunnam) and Mako Mori (Rinko Kikuchi) will be back and so will scientists Dr. Newton Geiszler (Charlie Day) and Dr. Hermann Gottlieb (Burn Gorman).

Film was scheduled to be released on August 4, 2017, but that date will have to be pushed back.
