The disappointing box office tallies of the Power Rangers reboot have left some in the community fearful about the movie's sequel possibilities. That is still in doubt at the moment, but it might have one lifeline up its sleeve in the form of toys.
While the movie didn't perform as expected, it certainly hasn't hurt the franchise's toy sales. In fact, it is quite the opposite, as the latest data (via WeGotThisCovered) shows action figures in the Power Rangers line have seen an uptick by 122.8 percent. Just in April of this year, Power Rangers toy lines witnessed an increase of 185.9 percent compared to April of 2016.
Despite the movie not resounding as much, Power Rangers keeps trucking with the debut of Super Ninja Steel coming later this year. The series follows the successful Power Rangers Ninja Steel, and looks absolutely crazy, something fans have come to love about the franchise.
Whether this success can trasnlate into another chance for the film franchise is yet to be known, but it is certainly a positive. If Lionsgate could bring down the budget a bit (the current reboot cost $100 million to produce and even more to market) they could very well opt to give the series a second film.
