guest star Jessica de Gouw will return as The Huntress in March 26's episode of the series, titled "Birds of Prey." "We consider Jessica a member of the Arrow family and we're looking forward to having her back for an episode everyone will be talking about after," executive producer Marc Guggenheim told TV Guide, who broke the story. Birds of Prey, of course, is the name of the all-female superhero team that, for years, featured The Huntress and Black Canary in addition to Oracle, the computer-savvy character Batgirl became after she was paralyzed from the waist down. The group was featured in a short-lived TV series on The WB in 2002.

Of course, that period in the character history is murky at best in the current comics, with Barbara Gordon back to full mobility and back to wearing tights and a utility belt instead of glasses and a virtual face. Also, it's unlikely that Gordon will appear on Arrow when her father, Gotham City Police Commissioner James Gordon, is set to star in his own series on Fox, titled Gotham, in the fall on another network. Fox executives have already confirmed that Gotham will not be connected to the shared universe inhabited by Arrow and Flash. With de Gouw's Huntress having been a major factor in the show's first season and Black Canary taking on an even bigger role this year, many fans had wondered whether we might see a version of the Birds of Prey forming in the Arrowverse--especially when you consider that Oliver Queen has his own bespectacled, female hacker on the vigilante payroll in the form of Felicity Smoak. For now, though, it seems as though the relationship won't be so cozy to start with. Here's the summary, via TVG: "The last we saw of Helena Bertinelli, Oliver's (Stephen Amell) spurned former lover was on the hunt for her father, crime boss Frank Bertinelli (Jeffrey Nordling) after he had her fiancé killed. Helena will return to Starling City in hopes of exacting revenge after the Arrow arrests Frank. However, to kill him, she's going to have to go through the Arrow... and Canary (Caity Lotz)!" The "Birds of Prey" episode of Arrow is slated to air Wednesday, March 26 at 8/7c on The CW.
