Sherlock star Benedict Cumberbatch is doing his best to avoid answering questions about rumors that he will be cast as Marvel's Doctor Strange -- but literally ignoring the reporters who ask them, even when he's in a one-on-one or one-on-two interview and doing so is hilariously awkward.

This realization comes to us via MTV, who were speaking with Cumberbatch and his Penguins of Madagascar co-star John Malkovich when the question came up and...well, it's just better to watch it.

For those of you who can't see the embed above, the question prompted Cumberbatch to turn directly to Malkovich and start complimenting his suit, while the reporter joked about being offended. It went on from there for about a minute, with Cumberbatch finding a number of humorous evasions while Malkovich was clearly enjoying the process.

The Penguins of Madagascar opens on November 26. Doctor Strange is slated for release in November 2016.
