Emmett/Furla/Oasis Films have closed a deal to partner with Atari in an effort to produce and finance two feature films based on the classic Centipede and Missile Command arcade games.

Randall Emmett and Geroge Furla will produce the film. Atari, Stephen Belafonte, Warne Marc Godfrey, and Robert Jones are on board as executive producers.

Both shooter games launched in 1980 during the golden age of arcade games. Centipede saw players battle against several different relentless waves of insects. Missile Command hurled players into a scenario of protecting California cities from incoming ballistic missiles.

Atari CEO Fred Chesnais said the company was "thrilled to partner with Emmett/Furla/Oasis Films to develop feature films based on two of our most beloved titles. Centipede and Missile Command are part of Atari's unparalleled and rich library of popular games and we cannot wait to see the movies come to life."

Emmett called the games "immensely popular titles have been enjoyed by generations of gamers worldwide. We look forward to a very successful partnership and to bringing Centipede and Missile Command to the big screen."
