Doctor Who: The Time of the Doctor Tops 8 Million Viewers in U.K.

While the ratings numbers for yesterday's Doctor Who Christmas special haven't come back yet in the U.S., the show's native land saw it become the top-rated drama of the day yesterday, topping 8 million viewers. "The Day of the Doctor" brought in 8.29 million viewers in the U.K., about a ten percent increase over last year's Christmas special. Of course, this year saw Matt Smith depart the show and Peter Capaldi make his first appearance as the new Doctor--so it was bound to be up a little. After the show, Smith tweeted, "To the Whoniverse, thanks a million. You're the best. I'll miss you. And I'll miss the madness."
