Back in January, Comicbook.com was the first to bring you an exclusive report that Iron Man 3 filming would start earlier than expected. Our sources indicated that filming would likely start either the last week in April or the first week in May. Some questioned that Iron Man 3 filming could start this early, under the reasoning that Robert Downey Jr. would be tied up doing promotional work for The Avengers. While true that Robert Downey Jr. has been promoting The Avengers, he spent most of the last week in Wilmington, North Carolina, which is the main location for Iron Man 3 filming. While Marvel Studios will not even confirm or deny if Robert Downey Jr. was in Wilmington, his presence was documented through photos from locals. Even though most published reports still list a May 21 start date for Iron Man 3 filming, a local Wilmington TV station is now confirming what Comicbook.com reported earlier this year. On this part Thursday, WECT reported that filming is set to begin on Iron Man 3 sometime next week. In addition, Comicbook.com has heard that some Wilmington locals have been told that some filming has already taken place. Let's just say we've heard that Robert Downey Jr. wasn't in Wilmington just to enjoy some grilled salmon and buy a new t-shirt. In other news, Star News Online has a report on the extents to which Marvel Studios is going to keep the secrets of Iron Man 3 under wraps. Many tied to the production have had to sign non-disclosure agreements, and most of the pre-filming tasks have been done under the radar. Star News Online does reveal that Cameron Art Museum in Wilmington, North Carolina is one of the potential shooting locations. It's also revealed that a caterer fed 80 crew members for the film last week.
