Pokemon Go players are everywhere, even within the State Department. CNN captured an exchange between State Department John Kirby and an unidentified reporter, in which Kirby noticed the reporter playing the game. Kirby stopped his briefing on the US's efforts to stop the ISIS terrorist group to call the reporter out. "You're playing that Pokemon thing right there, aren't you?" Kirby asked.
The reporter claimed that he was only keeping an eye on the game, since Pokemon randomly spawn every few minutes. Later in the briefing, Kirby asked the reporter if he had caught a Pokemon during the briefing, to which the reporter said that he had not because the signal in the State Department building was pretty bad.
It seemed like Kirby was more amused than anything that Pokemon had taken a higher priority to reporting on the United States' effort abroad. Of course, Pokemon Go is everywhere, even in military zones like the Korean DMZ, so maybe the State Department is just trying to get acquainted with the game before using it in their international efforts.
The full exchange can be seen below.
Pokemon Go is now out in the United States, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, and most of Europe.
