The Walking Dead Season 4, Episode 1

We're labeling this one as a spoiler, because we're going to be discussing some things from the comic book series, which may or may not happen on the TV show. This possible spoiler isn't based on leaked photos or footage, but it's based on some comments made by those closely associated with the show. The comments come from entertainment press interviews, as well as a video released by AMC. While this is pure speculation, the comments do seem to point toward the death of a key cast member who has been with the show since Season 1. In a video from The Walking Dead Season 4 preview weekend, Kevin Smith talked about the scene where Glenn proposes to Maggie. Kevin Smith said, "One of the best moments of last season, one of the sweetest, was Glenn going to the fence, clipping off the finger, and then you realize he's getting the ring, and you guys have the little ceremony." Lauren Cohan, who plays Maggie, responded, "It's nice to, because I know the writers wanted to find a fresh way of doing the marriage story. What that's given us for this season to is this, 'How do you approach a life together when you don't know how long it is?' So yeah, it's pretty awesome." Kevin Smith added, "That's about as close to a spoiler, as we're going to get." What makes Kevin Smith's reaction interesting is that in the Walking Dead comic book series, Glenn has already been killed off. The fact that Smith chooses to respond to Cohan's comments about not knowing how long Glenn and Maggie's life will be together by calling it "close to a spoiler" does seem to hint that maybe their time together will be short. What makes  Kevin Smith's spoiler comment even more interesting is the fact that Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman has indicated that The Walking Dead will more closely follow the comic book in Season 4. In an interview with TV Guide, Kirkman said, "Comic book fans that think the show has steered away from the comics completely will be pleasantly surprised by Season 4. Honestly, some of the closest adaptations of the comic have happened thus far is in Season 4. There are some very cool things that are told in the comics that… are adapted almost directly, which I usually frown upon. But Scott Gimple is able to talk me into things from time to time." Many have been interpreting Robert Kirkman's comments to mean that Rick Grimes might lose his hand, but what if he's talking about the death of Glenn? Here's another thing that makes us think Glenn could be a goner. Entertainment Weekly recently featured Lauren Cohan and Steven Yeun in a photo shoot. During the shoot, Cohan described Glenn and Maggie's relationship as, "It's in a really safe place." And Steven Yeun added, "They're in a good groove, living as close to what normal life should be." The premiere episode of The Walking Dead Season 4 is called "30 Days Without An Accident." If Glenn and Maggie are living close to a normal life, then isn't that the perfect set up for "an accident."
