William Shatner calls J.J. Abrams a pig

Earlier this week, William Shatner referred to Star Trek director J.J. Abrams as "a pig" during an interview, saying essentially that taking on both Star Trek and Star Wars was greedy and that Abrams needed a stern talking to. The actor, well-known among his fans for his dry sense of humor, meant the whole thing as a joke, but a number of sites (including ComicBook.com) reported on it as either straightforward or difficult to tell. As a result, Shatner took to Reddit yesterday to clarify things a bit. Posting the video as context, he offered no elaboration, trusting it to speak for itself--but when a fan asked him further down the page why he would have called the director a name, others leapt in to explain it as a joke and Shatner confirmed as much. "Exactly why I posted it. It's funny how other news sites are making it look like I'm angry or jealous at J.J.," Shatner said, adding, "(I am jealous of his talent.)"
