The Walking Dead Season 4 Robert Kirkman

At the Amazing Arizona Comicon recenlty, Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman talked briefly about the creative process for The Walking Dead TV Show. Kirkman also revealed plans to do a book about all his plots from The Walking Dead comic book series, which will reveal all the things that got changed before seeing print. In regards to the idea process for The Walking Dead TV series, Kirkman said, "There's tons of ideas. The thing that I love about the writers is that it's eight people sitting around a table. And you're encouraged to throw out whatever comes into your head within reason. And the whole idea is that I may say a dumb thing that was an idea that maybe I don't even feel that strongly about, but because of the process of the eight people working in a room, while they're shooting that down, it's going to spark the imagination of somebody else in the room, and that may lead to a good idea." "There's an infinite number of ideas that get pitched and shot down. And we all make fun of each other," added Kirkman. "And it's a fun environment.  And I quite enjoy it. Every now and then I get upset. But, no, there's definitely a lot of things that were thrown out. We didn't like or didn't wind up doing. There were things that made it all the way to the pitch to AMC or the first draft of the script that we just ended up changing our minds on. But there hasn't really been anything where I'm going, 'I hate that. Dang it.' Because I'm part of the process, and I'm able to steer things in the room." Changing to the comics, Kirkman said, "As far as the comic goes, I have this book that will come out some day called The Cutting Room Floor, and it is a book collecting all of my plots for the series. And there's quite a bit of things that you'll see that changed. I was going to go in one direction and ended up going in another. Some characters were going to die earlier. Some characters were going to die later. They were going to die differently. It'll be fun to explore what could have been if I ever put that book out."
