Jason David Frank is set to bring the brutal Bloodshot to the screen for the first time, but it wouldn’t have happened without help from the Green Ranger.

Frank is debuting the character as part of Valiant‘s new web series, Ninjak vs the Valiant Universe. As he recently told That Hashtag Show though, he wasn’t originally going to be in the entire series.
“I was only supposed to be in it for a little bit, just like Tommy, I was only supposed to be in it for a little bit,” Frank said. “One day of work that turned into all the episodes, and I like that. I like it.”
Jason David Frank sees opportunity where most see limitations, and he never shies away from projects simply because they are smaller roles. It turns out everyone has Tommy Oliver to thank for that.
“I was hired on that, and Emissary, on these two things, ‘Well, I have to tell you that they’re not really big roles but they’re super popular characters,’ and that’s what I was told about Tommy,” Frank said, “and that’s why I did it.”
Frank recalls when he first met with Saban about the part of Tommy Oliver and remembers being told the same thing.
“That’s why. I was told Tommy is in 10 episodes. ‘Just to let you know man, he’s very limited, he’s only in 10 episodes, if you’re willing to do it we’re not going to continue you. We’re not going to hire you for any more seasons,’ and I was there to do those 10 episodes,” Frank continued. “My job was not to focus on what happened in episode 11 that I don’t have. My job was to do the best I can during that time until there was basically a future, and so many episodes later, 200 and something, here I am.”
The rest, as they say, is history. Never tell Jason David Frank a part is too small. Or at least, don’t plan on it staying that way.
Up next for Frank is Bloodshot. The teaser trailer can be located here.
