Directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller will no longer be directing the Han Solo spin-off film, announced in a statement from Lucasfilm.
Kathleen Kennedy, president of Lucasfilm, said in the statement, "Phil Lord and Christopher Miller are talented filmmakers who have assembled an incredible cast and crew, but it's become clear that we had different creative visions on this film, and we've decided to part ways. A new director will be announced soon."
The directors also released a statement, revealing, "Unfortunately, our vision and process weren't aligned with our partners on this project. We normally aren't fans of the phrase 'creative differences' but for once this cliché is true. We are really proud of the amazing and world-class work of our cast and crew."
This will come as a huge disappointment to many Star Wars fans, as Lord and Miller have built an incredible reputation for their off-beat humor and turning the most difficult to adapt properties into successful films. The two previously directed the 21 Jump Street films, utilizing the comedic duo of Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill to update the melodramatic action series from the late '80s. Additionally, the duo helmed The LEGO Movie, somehow managing to turn a toy brand into a successful animated feature that earned a Batman-themed spin-off and an upcoming sequel.

With Han Solo being one of the most iconic heroes in cinema history, the pair seemed like the perfect fit to bring the charming character to life, with each casting decision they made falling in line with the tone of their previous films.
With Rogue One, Gareth Edwards was able to showcase a slightly different tone than what we've seen in the episodic installments in the series, showing a much grittier corner of the universe while still including the elements of incredible set pieces and action sequences. The anthology films seemingly allowed filmmakers to play in the Star Wars sandbox with more liberty than the episodic films, so it's tough to say what the creative differences could have been.

Reportedly, the film still has at least three more weeks of shooting, having begun at the end of January.
Considering all of the rumors and controversies that surrounded Rogue One's re-shoots, the loss of its directors will certainly cause a number of challenges for the as yet untitled Han Solo film.
The untitled Han Solo movie will be in theaters May 25, 2018.
Alden Ehrenreich stars as a young Han Solo and Joonas Suotamo as Chewbacca in the era before Star Wars: A New Hope, before they met Leia and Luke and embarked on a galaxy-saving adventure. Donald Glover also stars as Lando Calrissian, with Woody Harrelson, Thandie Newton, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, and Emilia Clarke in as-yet-unrevealed co-starring roles.
