Star Wars: The Last Jedi's second Friday at the box office was on that most films would die for, but compared to other Star Wars films, it marks the biggest Friday-to-Friday drop in franchise history.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi earned $24.68 million in its second Friday at the box office, a drop of 76.4 percent from the $104.7 million it made on its first day in theaters. That's a bigger drop than even the franchise's first standalone film suffered. Rogue One: A Star Wars Story dropped 67 percent from Friday to Friday in 2016.

However, before anyone campaigning to have Star Wars: The Last Jedi removed from canon starts using this box office statistic as a justification, it should be noted that most of the prequels suffered even greater eight-day drops at the box office, they just weren't released on Fridays. The Phantom Menace was released on a Wednesday and suffered a 72 percent drop. Attack of the Clones opened on a Thursday and dropped 78 percent by the following Thursday. Revenge of the Sith also opened on a Thursday and dropped 81 percent over eight days.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi earned $220 million in its opening weekend, becoming only the fourth film in history to earn over $200 million in its first three days. That's the second-highest opening weekend of all time, behind Star Wars: The Force Awakens, which earned $247.9 million in 2015. Star Wars: The Last Jedi is also only the second film in history to earn $100 million on its first day, after Star Wars: The Force Awakens earned $119 million on day one.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi is expected to cross $400 million by the end of the Christmas weekend.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi currently has an 83.28 ComicBook.com Composite Score. Star Wars: The Last Jedi also has a 4.06 out of 5 ComicBook.com User Rating. Let us know what you thought of Star Wars: The Last Jedi by giving the film your own personal ComicBook.com User Rating below.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi is now playing in theaters. Its sequel and the final installment of the Star Wars sequel trilogy, Star Wars: Episode IX, will release in theaters on December 20, 2017. The next standalone Star Wars movie, Solo: A Star Wars Story, opens in theaters on May 25, 2018.
