On a flight from London to LAX, Star Wars’ Carrie Fisher reportedly suffered a heart attack during the lengthy afternoon flight. According to TMZ, the actress went into cardiac arrest on-board and was administered CPR before being rushed to a local hospital upon landing.
On Twitter, actress Anna Akana confirmed the reports as she was sitting next to Fisher on the flight.
"Don't know how else to process this, but Carrie Fisher stopped breathing on the flight home. Hope she's gonna be OK. So many thanks to the United flight crew who jumped into action, and the awesome doctor and nurse passengers who helped," Akana wrote.
According to the original report, Fisher was rushed to a hospital this afternoon once the plane landed in Los Angeles. So far, there has been no update on her condition, but LAX police did confirm they responded to a medical emergency on her craft when the actress landed. Fisher was in London promoting her recent book The Princess Diarist which collects her journals from her days working on Star Wars.
Of course, fans have reacted strongly to the tragic news and have banded together to wish her a safe recovery. Everyone’s thoughts are with the Fisher family at this moment and hope that the Force is with the beloved starlet.
