Last weekend's D23 Expo gave us some of our most exciting looks at the upcoming The Last Jedi, from behind-the-scenes footage to candid interviews with members of the cast and crew. For those who were hoping to learn even more information about the sequel, today's episode of The Star Wars Show revealed the first look at the ship Kylo Ren will be piloting in the new sequel. Check out photos of the new version of his TIE below.
As you can see above, the ship's official name is the Sienar Jaemus TIE/VN Space Superiority Fighter. Host Andi Gutierrez shared more information on the ship, revealing, "The silencer features laser cannons and a missile launcher and looks an awful lot like a darker, sharper-edged TIE Interceptor."
StarWars.com elaborated even further on the vehicle:
"Reminiscent in design of the Empire's TIE interceptor and Darth Vader's TIE advanced, Kylo Ren's TIE silencer is an angular fighter equipped with laser cannons and missile launchers. Ren is an expert pilot -- thanks to skills passed down from his father -- which he puts to use in exploiting his ship's speed and ferocity. There is no other First Order craft like the TIE silencer, and it is an effective tool in Ren's mission to destroy the Resistance.
In The Force Awakens, Kylo's ship of choice was a command shuttle, which allowed for greater distances to be covered and had more room to bring passengers along with him. With the TIE silencer being designed to handle combat in lieu of being able to cover more ground, this could result in seeing the Sith engage in some intense dogfights with the Resistance.
To actually see the ship in action, we'll have to wait until we get a new trailer for The Last Jedi or see the film when it hits theaters December 15.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi is written and directed by Rian Johnson and stars Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Adam Driver, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong'o, Domhnall Gleeson, Anthony Daniels, Gwendoline Christie, Andy Serkis, Benicio Del Toro, Laura Dern, and Kelly Marie Tran.
